This healthy refined sugar free powdered sugar donut will take you straight back to childhood. I know I can’t be the only one that used to love grabbing a package of Mrs. Baird’s powdered sugar donuts on a road trip, right? Well this single serve version holds it own again the packaged version! Dare I say – it’s even better?
I loved those donuts because they were always so fluffy and light, and of course the coating of powdered sugar coating the outside never hurt…

I was recently inspired to make some of my childhood favorites at home in my own kitchen. One of the first that came to mind were those fluffy little powdered sugar donuts I used to enjoy so often. There was a period of time in my later life that I would’ve never allowed myself to eat one, let alone a full package of those donuts. But since going through eating disorder recovery and rediscovering my love for sweets, I figured I might as well try to make some of my favorites in my own kitchen.
So how did I make my donut different?
I was able to make this donut slightly healthier than the packaged version as well because I of course, didn’t add any preservatives or chemicals. This single serve powdered sugar donut is made with just a few simple, real, whole food ingredients that are simple to find, or that you may already have.

And, you would never believe it by looking, but this donut is actually SUGAR FREE! You may ask, “But Sarah, how do I make a powdered SUGAR donut, without any sugar?” Well, I actually used a sugar free alternative to powdered sugar that is all natural. I am definitely not against sugar by any means, but I love being able to balance it out sometimes by using healthy sugar free alternatives that are also natural and plant based.
Need more convincing??
In case you haven’t already been inclined to make this single serve donut, just take a look at the pictures. That texture, that fluff, that coating of powdered sugar. That should be all the convincing you need 🙂
