Classic Stovetop Oats

October 14, 2020

All Recipes, Breakfast, Single Serve, Sweet

My go-to breakfast will ALWAYS be CLASSIC STOVE TOP OATMEAL!

To be honest, this is my go-to meal whether it’s breakfast or not. Seriously, as Foster, whenever we’ve been gone for a while, or whenever I’m craving breakfast for dinner, I always say I want oats! he thinks I’m crazy, but it’s because he’s never eaten oats the way I make them!

It’s super simple, but always satisfies! You don’t have to make it complicated, it’s all about the process. And if you aren’t making your oats on the stove, that’s the game changer! It takes a little longer, but it’s worth it for the creamy and delicious texture!

I also always go for the simple toppings – yogurt, fresh berries and some nut butter. Sweet, simple, satisfying!

My classic stovetop oatmeal recipe is below – be sure to try it and reignite your love for oatmeal!

Step 1. cooking the oats. I usually use about 1/2 a cup of oats and about 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of water. You can use milk if that’s your preference, but I’ve just always used water! Allow the oats to come to a boil and cook for about 2-3 minutes before moving to the next step!

Step 2. once the oats have cooked alone, add in the cinnamon, maple syrup and vanilla extract. Be sure to stir continuously once you’ve added them! Cook together for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 3: Here is where you can add in additional flavor if that’s your jam – protein powder, other seasonings, it’s yours to make your own. Cook oats for another 2-3 minutes to finish.

Step 4. Pour cooked oats into a large bowl. And now comes the fun part – topping!

LAST STEP: Devour – be careful not to hurt yourself scarfing it down – because you won’t be able to resist!
